Dear Friend of the Jerome Lejeune Foundation,
We are saddened to learn of Jean Vanier’s passing peacefully to the Father today at age 90. Jean Vanier was a giant. He dedicated his life to helping and loving those with intellectual disabilities. As he once said, “Every person with a disability that I met wanted just one thing: to make someone happy.”
His passion and project, L’Arche – a community founded in France – is now in 81 countries, across 150 locations across the world. View the L’Arche USA announcement of Jean Vanier’s death.
While we are saddened, we also need to celebrate his life. Jean Vanier is likely right now dancing in Heaven with Dr. Jerome Lejeune!
I am encouraged by his last message, just a few days before he died, during which Vanier said, “I am not sure what the future will be, but God is good and whatever happens, it will be the best.”
To commemorate his 90th birthday, Vanier released a YouTube video sharing his thoughts on life and on growing older. I recommend that you view the video as you remember his life today.
Sincerely,
