WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA celebrates Gerber Products Company for selecting Lucas Warren as America’s cutest baby. As the winner of the Eighth Annual Gerber Photo Search, Lucas is unquestionably a perfect fit for the position.

Bill Partyka, President and CEO, of Gerber is in agreement, stating, “Lucas’ winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby”.

“We’re hoping this will impact everyone — that it will shed a little bit of light on the special needs community and help more individuals with special needs be accepted and not limited,” Lucas’ dad said. “They have the potential to change the world, just like everybody else.”

Lucas Warren is the first child with Down syndrome to receive the honor of being America’s cutest baby since the contest began more than 90 years ago. At the Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA, we believe that every child with Down syndrome contributes to life, to society, to culture, and to each individual family.

David Lejeune, the President of Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA, emphasized how significant this choice is to everyone that knows or lives with a person with Down syndrome. Lejeune said, “Lucas’ selection as this year’s Gerber Baby amplifies the beauty and importance of people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disorders from genetic origins. Gerber is helping demonstrate that these individuals contribute to society in meaningful ways; that they bring life to a family, radiate joy and goodness, and touch people in a profound way”.

The Jerome Lejeune Foundation is launching a medical care facility dedicated to adults and children with Down syndrome in the coming months, and is overjoyed that Down syndrome will be portrayed in a positive light through Lucas Warren. At the new facility, adults and children will not only receive unprecedented expert personal medical care, but will also be appreciated for who they truly are — as beautiful human beings with a heart, a soul, and lots of love to share.

While this hospital will be the first of its kind in the United States, the Jerome Lejeune Foundation already has this type of operation and experience in Paris, France. The Jerome Lejeune Institute in France is the Jerome Lejeune Foundation’s specialized medical center, offering unique consultation to patients with Down syndrome, throughout the patient’s life. The US-based hospital is being modeled after the Jerome Lejeune Institute in France and will begin accepting patients in the coming months.

The Jerome Lejeune Foundation has served thousands of people with Down syndrome over the past fifty years providing holistic care – not just medical care – holistic care.
