According to the news site Politico, a majority of justices on the United States Supreme Court are poised to issue a ruling that is truly a life and death decision, and that life will prevail! Politico has published a leaked draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization upholding a Mississippi law banning abortion after 15 weeks and overturning the Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey decisions that created a federal constitutional right to abortion.
This ruling would represent the greatest victory in history for the pro-life movement.

If this proves to be true, this will represent the greatest victory in history for the pro-life movement and the greatest opportunity ever for the Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA to protect the lives of the unborn diagnosed with Trisomy 21, the genetic condition that causes Down syndrome.
Help Us Fight for The Rights of Those with Down syndrome
The Jerome Lejeune Foundation USA is on the front lines of this battle. We’re urging the U.S. Supreme Court to allow states to protect the unborn, and we’ve become one of the most fierce advocates in state legislatures to prohibit the barbaric practice of aborting unborn babies on the basis of a Down syndrome diagnosis. While we caution that this leaked draft opinion is not final and things could change, if the Supreme Court does overturn Roe and Casey, the regulation of abortion will return to the states. According to The New York Times, some 30 states are working on legislation to protect the unborn in anticipation of a favorable ruling in the Dobbs case. Just recently, Florida, Kentucky, and Oklahoma joined Texas and Mississippi in passing laws that severely restrict abortion. Others have enacted “trigger bans” – laws that would outlaw abortions statewide if the Supreme Court overturns Roe and Casey.
Help protect the unborn with Down syndrome.

Facing Organized, Well-Funded, and Ruthless Opponents
Sadly, not every state is acting to protect the unborn. Under Governor Gavin Newsom’s direction, California has declared itself to be an abortion “sanctuary state,” and now prohibits insurance companies from charging patients for abortions. The state is even considering passing legislation that would permit infanticide – the killing of infant children for days or even weeks after they have been born! Shockingly, the bill is moving through the legislature at a brisk pace.
Colorado also recently passed anti-life legislation that will likely increase the abortion rates of those diagnosed with Down syndrome. Our Executive Director, Keith Mason, fought valiantly against it, speaking at pro-life events in Colorado to stop this horrific legislation from being enacted, as it essentially creates a “fundamental right” to abortion for any reason. Sadly, the abortion industry prevailed.
Though we have many great pro-life allies in state legislatures, we are up against a powerful and well-funded killing machine in the abortion industry, which has millions at its disposal to devote to these legislative battles. That is why it is imperative that we strengthen our financial foundation so that we can win these battles.
