Miami Students with Down Syndrome Prepare Special Welcome for Madame Jerome Lejeune

Madame Birthe Lejeune spent a week in the United States, dedicating her time to sharing the legacy of Dr. Jerome Lejeune. During this time, she visited the Marian Center, which is located just outside of Miami, Florida.

The Marian Center, a day school for students ages 6 – 21 who have intellectual disabilities, welcomed her with open arms. During the proceeding reception, the students presented her with cards and gifts they had prepared in anticipation of her visit. The student choir had prepared a small performance, which they presented after lunch.

The nuns showed Madame and her guests though the school, displaying the progress that the students were making.

It was a beautiful tribute to the unique ways in which those with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities shine.
